However, if Target is your go-to store, you’ll want to pay attention: the store’s Thanksgiving hours have evolved throughout time.
It’s risky to wait until the last minute to do your holiday shopping after the years 2020 and 2021. On Thanksgiving, a large number of stores implemented new holiday hours for the first time.
So, is Target open on Thanksgiving?
Target will not be open on Thanksgiving Day in 2022, and the store has no plans to change its policy in the future.
Last year marked an official adjustment in the company’s Thanksgiving policy. When the pandemic hit, “what started as a temporary measure spurred by the pandemic is now our new standard,” stated Target CEO Brian Cornell in a statement to workers in 2021. The firm said it had first shut down its outlets “in reaction to the epidemic and to reduce crowding in its stores.”
It’s undoubtedly a major move for the retailer: Target has, in previous years (with the exception of 2020), opened early on Black Friday, at roughly 5 p.m. local time. Now, the company is “rolling out savings over the period of several weeks versus a compacted window, and providing its expanded Holiday Price Match Guarantee, signalling to visitors that they are getting the greatest deals no matter when they spend.” That would be stress-free and beneficial for everyone involved.
Just because you can’t get your hands on this or that ingredient at Target doesn’t mean you can’t still throw a Thanksgiving to remember! (Except if we’re talking about butter, of course. This 2022 Thanksgiving, Target will be closed as usual. According to a press release from the previous year, “we… shuttered our stores on Thanksgiving Day (in 2020) to minimise congestion and let our clients take the stress out of grabbing the finest deals of the season.”
